Day 1: Favorite Song

My current favorite song is:

"Midnight Dancers" by Wolf Gang

I love the strong piano line, the bluesy bass, the dreamy harmony line, and the lyrics.

The lyrics, the lyrics, the lyrics.

Here we go again, on the cobble streets of Paris,
We'll go dancing 'round the square and everyone will stop and stare,
At the lovers of the night.
And time has drifted on, but we still do it right, oh.

Oh, isn't it enough now that you know our chance is gone,
To have you for the night - you've had me all along.

Isn't it enough now that you can hardly breathe?
Oh, just stay, just stay the night with me.
Stay the night with me.

Well I danced the floors of a thousand rooms,
And I picked you up and it all felt new.
What you think they're gonna do if we just run,
And broke the rules.
But you will never break them with me.
Yeah, you will never break them with me.

Yeah, isn't it enough now that you know our chance is gone?
To have you for the night - you've had me all along.
Isn't it enough now that you can hardly breathe?
Oh, just stay, just stay the night with me, mm.
Stay the night with me.

I keep trying to move on, there's something in the way.
You've had me so long and it's the way it'll always stay.
I've been trying to move on, there's something in the way, yeah.

Oh, isn't it enough now that you know our chance is gone?
To have you for the night, you've had me all along - all along.
Isn't it enough now that you can hardly breathe - hardly breathe.

Oh, just stay.
Just stay the night with me.
Stay the night with me.

Here we go again..
On the cobble streets of Paris..
We'll go dancing 'round the square..
And everyone will stop and stare..
At the lovers of the night.

I love the start and the finish describing the streets of Paris because it takes me back to this moment:

But mostly this moment:
The moment I fell in love with Paris.

But there's more to it than my experience dancing through the cobbled streets in the City of Lights at night.

This song basically sums up my current dating life. It says it so much better than I ever could, particularly the lines:

Well I danced the floors of a thousand rooms,
And I picked you up and it all felt new.
What you think they're gonna do if we just run,
And broke the rules.
But you will never break them with me.
Yeah, you will never break them with me.

Every time it hasn't worked out with somebody, I blast this in my car and belt out those lines. Him and I, and him and I, we will always just appear like something wonderful but there's nothing ever deeper and more spectacular because I feel like they get scared and don't want to take a risk with me. But I believe someday somebody will "break the rules" with me and want "something unusual" (another song from the album, haha).

Ah, sigh. This song is fantastic. It's romantic and hopelessly romantic. And it makes me melt.
