Here's a recap of what all I did while I was 22:
Ran my fourth half marathon
Ran the BlackLight run (with fun, brilliant people - Ph. D students and Doctors)
Experienced the most perfect run/ Emersonian escape to nature on Tempe Towne Lake
Picked up Yoga and Pilates again
Fixed my back - twice
Got my first massage (and second) - and facial
Wore red and pink lipstick without feeling judged (not simultaneously)
Performed in the official Video Games Live at Orpheaum Theatre
Played some crazy-high parts in Rob Gardner's "Lamb of God"
Participated in a epic ping-pong tournament
Performed in a Christmas program - or maybe two?
Almost played violin for Elder Holland - but ended up Sheri Dew
Watched my first temple cultural dedication on a public news station
Visited Utah - three times
Basically hung out with four different singles wards and lived in two different ones
Let go of a ton of emotional baggage
Completed an internship
Started my career
Graduated - officially
Attended more social events than probably the accumulative last 2 years at BYU
Dressed up as Yzma for Halloween - and decided I didn't make a half-bad brunette
Clean-sweeped Mormon poker night (thanks to Lauren's help)
Visited the Arizona Science Museum
Hosted a Star Wars marathon - and claimed bragging rights for helping a relationship blossom into marriage through it
Hiked Bridal Veil Falls
Hiked Camelback Mountain
Got sick four times
Accomplished some major personal goals
Watched all of BBC's Sherlock - sooooooo good!
Bought my own personal furniture
Actively wrote two missionaries for once
Saw a lot of modern theatre - "A Steady Rain," "4000 Miles," and "Good People"
Saw "Hairspray"
Saw Dr. Dog and the Lumineers in concert
Worked at Goodwill for a day
Discovered a love for copyediting
Worked my first 50 hour week
(side effect of being the last person in the office - a little Styx)
Visited the notorious Amy's Bakery
Finally finished MockingJay and legitimately couldn't look at men for three weeks after because I didn't think they compared to Peeta
Saw my first Spring Training game
Watched my first DragonBoat race
Watched my first Arabian Horseback Show
Went sugar-free for 1.5 months - and loved it (mostly)
Co-hosted a sick Poetry Slam night - (and started a SnapChat account, because, why?)
Semi-completed the great apartment makeover
Got over my "dog allergies" and held a lot of puppies
Mastered the art of homemade pizza - and cooked some fantastic meals
Overcame my fear of driving in the heart of Phoenix and became an aggressive driver
Watched my nephew double-fist straight butter
Experienced a great year for music: Vampire Weekend's "Modern Vampires of the City," Wolf Gang's EP, Lindsey Stirling's "Shatter Me", Foster the People's "Supermodel," Neon Trees' "Pop Psychology," and I personally discovered Walk the Moon, The Naked and Famous, Andrew Bird, and Ellie Goulding's "Halcyon." Just to name a few.
Watched the Diamondbacks play at Chase Field
Found and bought the Zelda Triforce at Buffalo Exchange
It was a Golden Birthday indeed - I turned 22 on the 22nd - AND T. Swift's "22" was on the the top of the charts that day too, BTdubs. It's obvious that Taylor wrote that song with my life in mind, even though I told her that she didn't have to.
Twenty-two, you've done good. Twenty-three, let's see what you have in store for me.

I laughed, I cried, and I realized we do look alike with the brunette comment!
ReplyDeleteA great post! Happy birthday, you've brought tremendous joy to your parents and siblings. Even when Nate cheated to beat you at Battleship. He was 13 and you were 2 years old.
